The Great Australian Weekend hits the road on Friday 26th September 2008 from 7:00 pm until midnight. After midnight, cowboys and cowgirls head up to the camping complex and go to bed in their tents, caravans, mobile homes, sleeping bags or star motel.

Its the beginning of a brand new day come Saturday, the morning starts off brisk but fantastic with a tour of the record room and the rodeo complex, gentle country music in the Bunyip Shed then, 12 noon the AFL grand final erupts with a wide screen and surround sound.

After the Football, the sounds of country music come to life as we salute the country music event of a lifetime the, "Harvey Dickson's Country Music Show". Five bands, duo's and solo artists coupled with the warm, undercover and sensational atmosphere produce the biggest and best country sounds you will hear this side of the black stump. After midnight the brave or maybe the foolhardy head to the top paddock, sit around a fire until daybreak. The rest of us head for bed and get ready for Sunday morning coming down.

OVERVIEW/HISTORY

Harvey Dickson's Country Music Centre in Boyup Brook, Western Australia is also a working farm, established in 1885, and is now the home of Harvey and Rose Dickson.

We have been involved in concerts and the tourism industry since 1979, we are a working farm, however there is 49 acres set aside for tours, concerts, and rodeos and bush camping.

The following is a summary in relation to the history of the Harvey Dickson's Country Music Centre Boyup Brook, Western Australia:-

Harvey Dickson's Country Music Centre's main involvement in the tourist industry has been country music shows, country music workshops for the young and old, Rodeos, sculptures, and memorabilia from 100 years ago to the present day. Our two biggest shows are the Harvey Dickson's Rodeo (commenced October 2002), held at the end of October each year and the Harvey Dickson's Country Music Show (commenced 1986) held over three days at the end of September (AFL Grand Final weekend).
Tours are conducted 7 days a week and approximately 7,000 to 10,000 people visit the premises yearly.

The Harvey Dickson's Country Music Centre is 5km out of Boyup Brook, W.A on the Arthur Road. The town of Boyup Brook is located in the South- West corner of West Australia 269 Kilometres from Perth, on the picturesque Blackwood River.

Way back in the sixties a bunch of farmer's sons and daughters headed out to the Dickson's farm and sat around campfire singing country songs they had written. Out of an FJ Holden Ute came a weather beaten shearer, clutching a battered Manton guitar and a bush drum, he sat down at the campfire and then there was a band.

Later the word had spread around the farms, towns, and cities of Australia that if you wanted to see the very best of country music concerts then Harvey Dickson's Country Music Centre Boyup Brook, Western Australia is the place to be.
